9-year-old Kian came to the session because of his fear of getting sick. He also exaggerated constantly – a simple headache became a concussion, stomach ache meant appendicitis. Sometimes he would not calm down until a doctor would confirm all was well.
Kian often helped on a farm. He was always thinking about possible diseases. He was convinced that going near cattle would make him sick. This strange fear started when he was seven.
During session, we brought his fear to the surface. He described it as dark grey and heart-shaped. He said it was over his real heart.
While visualizing he experienced the decisive moment. He saw himself on the farm. On that day, a vet was present. He examined the cows and spoke about all kinds of horrific diseases he had come across. Because Kian had a lot of contact with the animals, his thoughts began to spiral – more and more, until he got all worked up about it.
As this was a self-made fear he could completely disassemble it with his imagination. After it was removed, he did a full body scan. He found only a few bacteria because of a recent cold. Progress!
He also activated the army – his immune system. The little soldiers wore camouflage-colored pants and blue tops. With red laser guns, they vaporized the evil bacteria. Kian trusted his army.
Finally, he installed a bacteria filter near his mouth, with three layers for good measure. And with a zapping function. It made a sizzling sound when bacteria touched the filter and got fried. Interestingly, Kian’s filter let 5% of the bacteria pass. He explained that his army needs to practice and not become lazy and weak.
As homework, Kian had to repeat the phrase “I am and will remain healthy” every morning. A few weeks later, a grateful family said that Kian’s fears were no longer an issue.
